Over the years the river Blackwater has played its part in Britain’s history. From the Bronze age, through the Romans and Vikings, from salt making to maritime trade the Blackwater has flowed through the pages of history and continues to flow today.
More recently it has been an important haven for migratory birds and has a number of SSI areas along its course. It’s gentle rolling banks and vast tidal mud flats provide a vista that is unique to the area; a magnificent back drop to days of adventure exploring its reaches, inlets and bays.
